The History and Evolution Of Healthcare The History And Evolution Of Healthcare Jay Williams University Of Phoenix HCS/440 Health Care Economics Lena Lee Watson, RN, DHSc August 5, 2010 The History And Evolution Of Healthcare Intro I can remember as a little kid growing up in New York City what the highlight of my year was every year; it was getting to go down south for the summer. My grand parents had this huge oak tree in their front yard that I love to climb up. My grandmother used to always say to me ââ¬Å"Stop doing that tree, one day youââ¬â¢re going to fall and break your arm.â⬠Well, she was right. I fell out and broke my arm. She and my grandfather took me to the hospital, the doctor put a brace on my arm, grandpaâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦and the effect that healthcare cost has on the U.S. Gross National Product. When all of these factors are considered one could see how healthcare has an macroeconomic effect on the economy. Meaning that when an individual pays his or her premium, those premium dollars are invested back into the economy by the insurance companies to keep our economy strong. This is different from microeconomics. In a microeconomic system itââ¬â¢s more of a decisio n as to whether or not an individual can afford the premiums or if theyââ¬â¢re even willing to pay the premiums.and whether or not they are willing to pay them. Conclusion Though it has been many years since Iââ¬â¢ve climbed a tree there is one thing that I am certain of. With the rising cost of health care today if I did break an arm or any other limb, it would certainly cost more than $10 for me to be patched back up.
